One Technology - Multiple Applications

Genome Analyzer II technology provides an almost limitless tool for exploring genetic variation and gene expression.

The process starts with generation of a library of short (usually 90–500 bp) DNA fragments containing Illumina adapter/primer sequences at either end. Depending on the sample preparation method we use, these fragments can originate from randomly sheared genomic DNA, amplified DNA, target-enriched (‘captured’) DNA, ChIP or nucleosomal DNA, mRNA, small RNA molecules. Methods are also available to interrogate the methylome.

With such a versatile technology new methods for sample preparation and research applications are being developed and published monthly. For an up to date list of relevant publications please see http://illumina.com/publications/ .
